The Green Girl Guides of Denmark is open to girls only from the age of 5 regardless of race, language, religion and political observation. We are nearly 5000 green girl guides in Denmark. HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark is our Protector.
Guiding in Denmark began in 1910 when some girls joined a boy scout group. Within a few years the girls established their own organisation, the Danish Guide Association (DDP), and on 4th May 1919 the YWCA Girl Guides in Denmark, now The Green Girl Guides of Denmark, was founded by Mrs Ingrid Ulbricht. The Brownies (Grønsmutterne) as a branch of the YWCA Girl Guides was started on 22nd April 1920. Denmark was a founding member of World Association of Girl Guides and Girls Scouts (WAGGGS).
